Reghecampf hits out at Esperance Tunis after move to FCSB

Former Esperance Tunis coach Laurențiu Reghecampf has sparked widespread controversy within the club after arriving in Romania to take charge of FCSB, just days after tensions escalated between him and the Tunisian team's management.

The beginning of the crisis dates back to last Sunday, when Gigi Becali, the president of FCSB, announced that he had reached a formal agreement with Reghecamp to take over as head coach, confirming the completion of the procedures related to the coach's move to the Romanian capital.

The rift between Reghecampf and Esperance Tunis has intensified since reports emerged, before the coach left Tunisia on Wednesday evening heading to Romania, having missed the team's training on Tuesday. The following day, the 51-year-old coach appeared at FCSB's headquarters, where he was officially presented as the team's coach, before leading his first training session after a meeting with the players and the administrative staff.

FCSB has released photos and a video of their new coach's appearance before training, but Reghecampf had previously made strong statements regarding the reasons for his departure from Esperance Tunis.

The Romanian coach revealed that he threatened Esperance Tunis officials with going to FIFA due to not receiving his financial dues for three months, indicating that this step was aimed at terminating his contract and joining FCSB.

Reghecampf said during his press conference: "It has been a difficult week for me, but I really wanted to come here, and that is the most important thing. I am very happy to be with FCSB. I threatened Esperance Tunis to resort to FIFA so that I could terminate the contract by mutual consent, and that is what happened."

Reghecamp had only led Esperance Tunis in four matches, achieving three victories and one defeat, before his experience with the team ended amid disagreements with the club's management.

In contrast, media reports close to Esperance Tunis indicate that the Romanian coach has not officially ended his contract with the club, and that the Tunisian team intends to resort to FIFA's dispute resolution chamber.

Reghecampf has confirmed that his focus is currently on his new role with FCSB, explaining that his immediate goal is to secure a win against Galati in the team's first match after the league resumes, scheduled for October 10.

He added: "I know exactly what awaits me. We have a lot of work to do, and the most important thing is to reach our goal. We will try to implement the program step by step, and the players need to regain their confidence and their level, and we will start working from today."
