Zamalek SC delays decision on renewing Mahmoud Bentayg's contract

Zamalek SC officials have decided to postpone the resolution regarding the contract renewal of Moroccan international Mahmoud Bentayg, the team's left-back, despite the club's desire to keep the player and extend his contract in the upcoming period.

According to a source within the club, Bentayg has joined Zamalek SC on loan from AS Saint-Étienne for the 2024 season, before the club decides to activate the option to buy his contract permanently in March 2025 for one million euros.

After completing the deal, the player signed a new contract with Zamalek SC lasting three seasons, ending in the summer of 2028, with the total value of the contract amounting to approximately 1.65 million dollars over the duration of the agreement.

The source clarified that the management of Zamalek SC has a genuine desire to extend Mahmoud Bentayg's contract, but the matter is not a priority at the moment, as the club is busy resolving other more urgent issues.

Zamalek SC are focusing on renewing contracts for players whose ties with the club end at the end of the current season, before reopening the file on Mahmoud Bentayg and determining his final position, according to the technical vision and the team's needs during the upcoming phase.
