Liverpool secured a valuable 1-0 victory against AFC Bournemouth on Sunday at the Vitality Stadium, in the fifth round of the Premier League, in a match that saw coach Andoni Iraola return to face his former team.

The first half ended in a goalless draw before Liverpool succeeded in breaking the deadlock in the 58th minute, when the ball reached Alexander Isak inside the penalty area after a cross from Cody Gakpo, allowing the Swedish forward to calmly slot the ball into the net and give his team the lead.

Liverpool maintained their lead until the final whistle, despite AFC Bournemouth's attempts to get back into the match, allowing Iraola's team to secure three more points and continue their unbeaten start in the Premier League, while AFC Bournemouth remains winless after five rounds.

Liverpool have increased their tally to 9 points, moving up to 6th place in the standings, while AFC Bournemouth remain on 3 points, dropping to 17th place.

The match had a special significance for Iraola, who returned to the Vitality Stadium for the first time since leaving AFC Bournemouth to take charge of Liverpool, securing a valuable victory in his first encounter against his former team.
