Chelsea close to moving for Adam Wharton
Chelsea have shown increased interest in signing Adam Wharton, a midfielder from Crystal Palace, during the upcoming transfer window, according to reports from CaughtOffside.
Chelsea were looking to strengthen their midfield during the summer transfer window, seeking a replacement for Enzo Fernández, but Adam Wharton was not available for a move and was not looking to leave Crystal Palace.
Manchester City have inquired about the possibility of signing Adam Wharton this summer, but they appear to be out of the race for his signature after strengthening their midfield with the additions of Enzo Fernández, Ayyoub Bouaddi, and Elliot Anderson.
The report indicates that there were previous internal disagreements at Chelsea regarding Adam Wharton's suitability for Xabi Alonso's style, which relies on various forms of the 3-4-3 formation, while the player is accustomed to playing in a midfield trio with Crystal Palace and the England national team.
Chelsea are also monitoring Bournemouth's Alex Scott, who won't be available until the summer of 2027 and could be valued at over £100 million. Meanwhile, some sources indicate that Adam Wharton could leave for around £80 million in January, with Liverpool continuing their interest in the player.
