Gavi misses England clash due to FIFA ban
Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' confirmed that Gavi will not be able to participate with Spain against England, after the appeal committee of the FIFA World Cup rejected the appeal submitted by the Spanish Football Federation to suspend the player's ban.
Gavi has been suspended for one match following the events that took place in the FIFA World Cup final on July 19, along with a fine of €25,692 ($30,000).
Luis de la Fuente is set to announce the Spain national team squad today, Friday, ahead of the UEFA Nations League matches. If Gavi is called up, he will definitely miss the match against England scheduled for September 26 in the capital, London.
Gavi will have to wait for the second match against Croatia, scheduled to take place in Spain on September 29, to make his debut with the national team at this stage. The Spanish Football Federation's rejection of the appeal confirms the continuation of the ban announced by FIFA on August 21.
