The truth about Espérance's termination of Peruvian Jesús Castillo's contract

Tunisian reports have revealed the truth behind the news circulating about Espérance Sportive de Tunis terminating the contract of their Peruvian player Jesús Castillo, who joined the team during the last summer transfer window.

Castillo signed a contract with Esperance in August 2026 for three seasons, before missing one of the team's recent matches due to not regaining his full physical fitness, as a result of joining the group late.

After just four rounds, the player traveled to Madrid for a number of medical tests, following which reports emerged that Espérance had ended their association with the player.

However, Tunisian radio station RadioMed has denied reaching a formal agreement regarding the contract termination, confirming that the matter is still in the negotiation phase.

The radio reported a state of discontent within Espérance due to what sources from the club considered the player's lack of commitment, which contributed to the spread of news regarding the termination of the contract.

According to the same sources, officials at Espérance de Tunis believe that signing Castilho was a "mistake" that needs to be corrected by exploring the possibility of ending the contract. Currently, consultations are taking place between the club, his legal team, and the player's agents, aiming to reach an agreement that does not expose Espérance de Tunis to any damages or complaints before FIFA.

There is currently no official decision to terminate Jesús Castillo's contract, despite ongoing negotiations between various parties to explore the possibility of ending the player's association with the club.
