Arteta: The win was deserved, and this is what we showed

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's head coach, praised his team's performance during their victory over Napoli by a goal to nil in the first round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, stating that the result did not reflect the level the players showed.

Mikel Arteta said in statements to TNT Sports: "Three points fully deserved. The performance probably does not reflect the result, the team was truly brilliant today."

He added: "We showed quality in many moments to break through their defense, and it was unfortunate that we wasted several great chances. On any other day, the result would have been different."

Speaking about team captain Martin Ødegaard, Arteta said: "Martin contributes goals that affect results, and that is what we want from our attacking players, to be decisive, and he certainly was again today."

Arsenal's manager added: "We should have secured the match differently, considering the number of chances we created."
