Arsenal's stance on the departure of Viktor Gyökeres in January

Arsenal have made a decision regarding the departure of Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres during the winter transfer window, as he has only participated for 12 minutes in the Premier League this season, with manager Mikel Arteta relying on Kai Havertz in the attacking line.

Jökeres has joined Arsenal in the summer of 2025 for £67 million, scoring 21 goals in 55 matches during his first season with the team.

TEAMtalk reports, citing journalist Ben Jacobs, that Giocares will remain with Arsenal until the end of the season, confirming that there is no current move to force him to leave in January, although the player was not completely unsellable, and his name has been mentioned in the Saudi transfer market.

Jacobs explained that Arsenal will not stand in the way of Viktor Gyökeres' departure in the future if a suitable offer matching the club's valuation comes in and the player wishes to move, but he suggested that his future is likely to be a bigger topic of discussion in the summer of 2027.

Arsenal are also linked with Julián Álvarez, who the club sees as closest to Arteta's style, but the Argentine forward prefers a move to Barcelona, having made it clear during the summer that he would only consider leaving Atlético for a transfer to Camp Nou.
