Details of Ibrahim Hamdani's contract with Algeria national team

The Algerian Football Federation has confirmed the identity of the new coach for the Algeria national team, having decided to assign the task of leading the "Greens" to former international player Ibrahim Hamdani, replacing Swiss coach Vladimir Petković.

According to available data, Hamdani's contract with the Algerian Football Federation extends until the end of the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification 2027, a task that will serve as his first real test at the helm of the national team.

Although the statement from the Algerian Football Federation did not explicitly specify the duration of the contract, the agreement stipulates that Hamdani will continue in his role until the end of the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification, where he will be required to lead the 'Desert Warriors' during the upcoming challenges, amid significant scrutiny of his performance and ability to take on the responsibility.

Hamdani has been chosen following his achievement with the Algeria U21 national team, having led the young 'Greens' to win the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto 2026, which boosted his chances to succeed Petković.

Hamdaoui will be assisted in his role by Antar Yahia, who will take on the position of assistant coach, and Moussa Saïb, who has been appointed as the general manager of the national team. The new staff has begun preparations for upcoming fixtures.

Algeria are competing in the Africa Cup of Nations Qualification 2027 in Group 9 alongside Zambia, Togo, and Burundi, starting their journey with a match against Zambia on September 25 at the Hussein Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou, before traveling to Bujumbura to face Burundi on September 29.

Algeria are expected to play a friendly against Niger on October 6, in an additional test for the new coaching staff to experiment with their options and assess the players' readiness.
