Everton turn to free agents market to solve striker crisis

David Moyes, the manager of Everton, has confirmed that the club is currently examining the available free agents in the transfer market to bolster their attacking options, following the end of the summer transfer window amid a clear shortage of attacking choices.

Everton currently have only one experienced striker, Terence Barlow, after Beto left for Fiorentina, while the deal to sign Folarin Balogun from AS Monaco collapsed at the last moment.

David Moyes stated: "We are looking in the free agent market. I am trying to build a team capable of competing at the top end of the Premier League table, and I want the players to believe that we are moving forward, and that is very important to me."

However, the Scottish manager hinted at the same time that finding a player of the required level through the free agent market will not be easy, especially since Everton's ambition is to get closer to the top teams and compete strongly in the Premier League.

Everton attempted to sign Folarin Balogun for over £40 million in the final hours of the transfer window, and also inquired about Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United, but neither deal was completed.
