Alonso: Enzo's departure was the best decision for the team, and we are happy with our squad

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has commented on the departure of Argentine Enzo Fernández to Manchester City on the last day of the summer transfer window, confirming that the decision was made collectively and aimed at serving the best interests of the team.

In his press conference ahead of the match against Arsenal in the Premier League, Alonso discussed Enzo's departure, the readiness of several players, his assessment of the summer transfer window, and the options available in midfield.

Regarding Enzo Fernández's departure to Manchester City, Alonso said: "We make all decisions together, we work together on big and small decisions, we knew that our ultimate goal was to provide the best for the team. We want to build high morale and a strong team."

He added: "In the world of football, many things happen. We spoke with Enzo, and the conversation was always based on respect. What he has done for the club has been wonderful, but now it is time to move on; we have outstanding players in all positions, and we are now fully prepared."

Regarding Moisés Caicedo's readiness, he clarified: "We will conduct medical tests tomorrow. Tomorrow is the deadline to make the final decision regarding the player's participation with the team on Sunday."

Alonso indicates that Jordan Henderson, who has recently joined Chelsea, is getting closer to having the opportunity to participate in matches.

Regarding the possibility of signing Lamine Camara from AS Monaco in the final moments of the transfer window, he said: "I believe we are ready and satisfied with the team's lineup and depth."

He added: "We have a good balance between players of different age groups, we need to build this energy throughout the week to deliver our best performance at the weekend."

He continued: "So far, the start has been good, and now we know who the players in the team are; it's good to have this certainty."

Speaking about his assessment of Chelsea's summer transfer window, Alonso stated: "We can be very happy with the entire transfer period, a lot of things were achieved from what we started talking about in May and early June. The first phase was very balanced in this transfer window. The first phase is complete and it is a good phase for the present and the future."

Regarding the signing of Morgan Rogers, who has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal, he said: "Certainly, signing Morgan has been a huge gain; he will be a key player over the next six or seven years. He has had a significant impact."
