Fenerbahçe denies serious claims regarding Marco Asensio's health
Fenerbahçe have firmly denied claims made by Turkish journalist Sardar Ali Çelikler regarding the health of their Spanish player Marco Asensio.
The club confirmed that what has been circulated regarding a serious and ongoing problem with Marco Asensio's knee ligaments since the beginning of the season, the possibility of him suffering an injury to the cruciate ligament, his desire to undergo surgery, and his request to the club in this regard, is "baseless and a product of imagination."
Fenerbahçe stated that transferring scenarios that do not align with medical facts, without the knowledge of the club or its medical staff, under the pretext of accessing private information, "cannot be considered journalistic activity."
The club added: "We do not accept the fabrication of such details and definitive phrases regarding a highly sensitive issue like the health status of an athlete, without relying on any concrete data."
Fenerbahçe has called on Çelikler to correct his misleading claims that mislead public opinion regarding Asensio's health, and to refrain from sharing any unverified information about the club or its players as if it were fact.
The club concluded its statement by stressing that the only official source the public should rely on regarding the health status of the team's players is the official data issued by Fenerbahçe.
