Barcelona makes adjustment to Gabriel Jesus' contract

FC Barcelona have decided to amend the terms of Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus's contract, after the initial agreement stipulated a two-year signing with an option to extend for a third season, according to Spanish newspaper "Sport".

FC Barcelona have secured the signing of Gabriel Jesus for €10 million, after the 29-year-old player was deemed surplus to requirements by Mikel Arteta this season, with one year remaining on his contract.

The Brazilian forward has successfully passed his medical tests after recovering from a serious knee injury that kept him out of action for 11 months in 2025.

The Spanish newspaper reported that FC Barcelona have offered Gabriel Jesus a new three-year contract instead of the previous arrangement, which the player has agreed to, in a move that reflects the club's great confidence in the signing.

Gabriel Jesus will be a new addition to FC Barcelona's attack, which currently relies on Abdul Knight as a central striker, alongside Raphinha's impressive performances in this position.

Gabriel Jesus is expected to wear the number 9 shirt that was worn by Robert Lewandowski, while he will work during the upcoming training sessions to reach the best possible fitness, in preparation for determining his availability for the Valencia match on Sunday.

FC Barcelona are not rushing to integrate the player into the squad, given the team's good performance. The plan is to gradually introduce him to the group, with confidence in his ability to adapt quickly within the team.
