Saka: It was a tough match, and this helped us keep a clean sheet
Bukayo Saka, the star of Arsenal, spoke in press statements following the victory over Aston Villa by a goal to nil in the second round of the Premier League.
Saka said in statements to "Sky Sports": "It was a very, very difficult match. It's not easy to come here, they made things tough for us, and that's why I feel even happier to come away with the win."
He added: "Their defensive approach was very difficult; they were very compact and played with a high defensive line, and they managed to catch us offside. We had to adapt to that, and it was different from what we faced last week, and we couldn't implement our attacking style as usual."
Saka said: "One goal is usually enough for us because we are very strong at the back. When we scored the first goal, the game opened up a bit, and we wanted to push for the second goal."
Bukayo Saka praised the role of the full-backs in providing the team with additional attacking options, saying: "All the full-backs contribute a lot to the team in the way they play, and for us as wingers, it opens up spaces and makes the game easier for us, and we always stay calm inside the penalty area."
Speaking about Arsenal's performance with the ball, Saka explained: "We weren't at our best when we had the ball, but without it, we were amazing. As soon as we lost the ball, we would get back quickly, and we knew they liked to play on the counter."
He concluded: "All the players gave everything they had tonight, and this helps us a lot in keeping our clean sheet."
