Behind the scenes of Mahmoud Gehad's exclusion from Zamalek's squad for the match against Petrojet
Ahmed Shobair has revealed the details behind Zamalek SC player Mahmoud Gehad being excluded from the squad for the match against Petrojet in the Egyptian League, which is part of the third round of the competition.
Shobir stated in a radio interview that Mahmoud Gehad left the camp after he found out that his name was not on the Zamalek list, explaining that the player was not among the substitutes and therefore was not required to sit on the bench.
He added: "Zamalek have excluded Mahmoud Gehad from the squad for the match against Petrojet, because when he didn't find his name on the list, he left the camp. It's normal; he is not in the squad nor sitting on the bench, so he can watch from home."
Ahmed Shobir pointed out that the player's behavior was unprofessional, but he wondered about the justification for a penalty of exclusion or a fine, saying: "Of course, it's not appropriate to be honest, but does this warrant exclusion or a fine? I don't know."
Zamalek SC face Petrojet this evening, Monday, in the third round of the Egyptian League.
