English Rivalry for Fernandez Bardo's Signature
Arsenal and Liverpool have entered a competition with Newcastle to secure the signing of Matias Fernandez Pardo, the Lille player, in the final days of the summer transfer market.
The player is 21 years old and can play as a left winger or forward. Last season, he participated in 41 matches, scoring 8 goals and providing 7 assists.
The Telegraph reported that Newcastle is intensifying its moves to acquire the Belgian international, who Lille has valued at £60 million. Meanwhile, TEAMtalk noted that Liverpool has contacted the French club, having identified the player as a replacement for Ismaïla Sarr.
According to "CaughtOffside", Arsenal has joined the race and made contact regarding the transfer, indicating that the club may shift its focus to a formal move after clarifying the situation with Julián Álvarez.
Bardo has caught the eye of Mikel Arteta, particularly with his ability to play in multiple attacking positions. However, the financial demands from Lille represent a hurdle for the transfer.
Arsenal's interest in the player comes after the Julian Alvarez deal has become complicated, as David Ornstein clarified that the chances of Atletico Madrid's forward moving to the London club appear slim, given the player's desire to join Barcelona.
David Ornstein has indicated that Atletico Madrid is willing to negotiate with Arsenal, but Alvarez has informed Arteta of his reluctance to move, although his stance could change before the transfer window closes.
