Tunisian League: Esperance Turns Tables on Sfaxien
Esperance de Tunis began their league journey with an exciting victory, overturning a deficit against Etoile du Sahel to win 3-2 in a match held on Sunday evening at the Hamadi Agrebi Stadium in Rades, as part of the first round of the competition.
Esperance established its dominance early on, with Mohamed Belhaj Mahmoud opening the scoring in the 15th minute, giving his team an early lead and putting Sfaxien in a position to fight back.
The star responded powerfully in the second half, as Ashraf Ben Diyaf equalized in the 52nd minute, before Osama Obeid added the second goal in the 61st minute, giving his team an advantage that turned the match in their favor.
Esperance de Tunis refused to surrender despite falling behind, intensifying their pressure in search of a comeback. This effort paid off with a equalizing goal from Moaz Haj Ali in the 74th minute, bringing the match back to square one.
Haj Ali did not stop there, as he returned just eight minutes later to score his second goal of the match in the 82nd minute, giving Esperance the lead again with a score of 3-2.
Babsouika maintained their advantage until the final whistle, securing a valuable victory and three points in their opening match of the Tunisian league. Meanwhile, Sousse's star squandered their lead in the second half, returning to square one without earning any points.
