Official: Monaco Announces Pogba's Departure and Contract Termination Ahead of Season
AS Monaco has announced the termination of midfielder Paul Pogba's contract by mutual agreement, just before the team plays its first match of the new season. This marks the end of the relationship that began during the preparations for the 2025 season.
Monaco stated in an official announcement that both parties have agreed that the objectives set at the beginning of the project have only been partially achieved, leading to the decision to terminate the contract that was scheduled to run until June 2027.
The French club thanked Pogba, the 2018 World Cup winner with the French national team, for the trust he placed in the organization and for his professionalism throughout his time with the team, praising his mentality, determination, and commitment to the highest standards.
Monaco has confirmed that Pogba was able to return to top-level competition during his time with the team after a long absence from the pitch. He also contributed his experience and knowledge to support the first-team players, especially the younger elements.
Thiago Scuro, the CEO of AS Monaco, stated: "We are very happy that we embarked on this journey together, and although the result was not what we hoped for, that should not overshadow the excitement surrounding his return to club football, nor the fact that he was able to return to the pitch and professionalism."
Pogba thanked the club president, management, teammates, and all staff and supporters who believed in him, emphasizing that representing Monaco was a wonderful experience. He noted that he will always be grateful for the opportunity to wear the team's jersey, despite not playing as many matches as he had hoped.
