Goalkeeper Ahmed Abou Rasin Joins Belgian Side Sint-Truiden
Saudi goalkeeper Ahmed Abu Rasin has officially joined Belgian club Sint-Truiden, arriving from Al Hilal on a free transfer, with a professional contract lasting three seasons, marking the start of his journey in Europe.
Abu Rasin, at just 22 years old, has made history by becoming the first Saudi goalkeeper to officially play in European leagues, a significant step that enhances the presence of Saudi talents outside the Kingdom.
Sint-Truiden is competing in the Belgian Pro League, alongside participating in the qualifiers for the Europa League, which provides the young goalkeeper with an important opportunity to gain new experiences.
Abu Rasin started his football journey in the youth ranks of Al-Faihah, before transferring to Al-Hilal in 2021, where he shone with the youth team, winning the league title.
The goalkeeper had a loan spell with Neom during the 2024-2025 season, before returning to Al Hilal. He then finalized his new professional step by transferring to Sint-Truiden in August 2026.
Abu Rasin has international experience with Saudi Arabia's U21 and U23 national teams. Standing at 1.90 meters tall, he possesses the physical attributes ideal for the goalkeeper position.
The Saudi goalkeeper is set to begin his European experience with Sint-Truiden, where Japanese player Leo Kokubo is the starting keeper, while he awaits his chance to compete and prove his abilities.
Abu Rasin hopes that the Belgian experience will be an important milestone in developing his level, gaining European exposure, and paving the way for more Saudi goalkeepers and talents to pursue professional opportunities abroad.
