Joey Vermouth Joins Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund has announced today, Tuesday, the official signing of Dutch player Joey Vermaerke from PSV, in a deal that extends until June 30, 2031.

The 27-year-old midfielder will don the number 25 shirt with Dortmund as the club strengthens its midfield during the summer transfer window.

Lars Ricken, Borussia Dortmund's sporting director, stated that Firman is a player with abilities that will greatly assist the team, explaining that the club focused this summer on strengthening the midfield following the departures of Pascal Groß and Salih Özcan, while planning to utilize Emre Can in the center-back position upon his return.

Ferman began his career with Volendam, before playing for Heerenveen, and then moved to PSV Eindhoven in January 2022.

During his time with PSV Eindhoven, he played 198 matches, scoring 31 goals, and won the Dutch league three times in 2024, 2025, and 2026, along with two KNVB Cups and three Super Cups.

On the international stage, Ferman has played 16 matches with the Dutch national team since his international debut in 2023, scoring one goal.

Oli Bock, Borussia Dortmund's sporting director, described Vermann as a special player with creativity, skill, and vision, emphasizing that he has proven his ability to deliver consistent performances at the highest levels with PSV Eindhoven and the Dutch national team.

Fierman stated after his transfer to Dortmund: "Borussia Dortmund is a great club in Europe, and I am proud to now be a part of this club. I am very happy to be here and want to achieve success with Dortmund."
