Yacine Brahimi Set for Return to Europe
Algerian international Yacine Benzia is on the verge of embarking on a new experience in Europe, as Slovenian club Maribor has entered serious negotiations to sign the Algerian midfielder during the current summer transfer window.
Maribor's interest in Ben Ziyech comes at a time when the player is searching for a new chapter in his career, following the end of his experience with Saudi club Al-Fayha. The Slovenian club has emerged as one of the prominent options for him to return to European football.
According to the newspaper "Fanat.Az", negotiations between Ben Zia and the Maribor management are progressing positively, with a clear desire from the Slovenian club to benefit from the experience of the Algerian national team player, who has previously had multiple experiences in Europe.
Ben Ziyech has an impressive record with several European clubs, having worn the jerseys of Lyon and Lille in France, Fenerbahçe in Turkey, and Olympiacos in Greece, along with his stint at Qarabağ in Azerbaijan, which gives him extensive experience in European competitions.
The Algerian player has concluded his association with Al-Faiha after spending one season in the Saudi league. During the 2025-2026 season, he participated in 32 matches in the competition, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
If his transfer to Maribor is completed, Ben Ziyech will have the opportunity to regain his presence in European football, which has seen an important part of his career, also benefiting from his international experience with the Algerian national team.
