Messi Pays Tribute to His Father with Heartfelt Words

The Argentine legend Lionel Messi's father, Jorge Messi, mourned his son with heartfelt words, expressing his shock and profound sadness after his passing. He emphasized that he is still unable to grasp the idea of his absence and the fact that he will never see or speak to him again.

Messi wrote on his Instagram account: "Dad, I still can't believe you're gone. I can't comprehend it, or rather, I don't want to comprehend it. It's so hard for me to imagine that I will never see you again, and that we won't talk again."

He added: "I know you were suffering and that leaving was a relief for you, but you left too early. We still had so much to enjoy together. You always asked me to play in the last World Cup, and just days before it started, your condition worsened."

Messi spoke about his father's struggles during the World Cup, stating that it was the first time his father was not present with him. However, he remained hopeful for his father's recovery and travel, explaining: "I was telling you that we would reach the final so you could travel."

He continued: "Every time I finished a match, I would wait for your message and I missed it. That's when I realized the situation was really bad. I couldn't stop thinking about reaching as far as possible, so I could give you time to watch a game."

The former Barcelona star noted that Argentina has already reached the final, but his father was unable to attend, emphasizing that he wished to win the title for him, saying: "I wanted to win it for you, to bring the trophy to you and show you a new cup."

Messi also addressed his physical struggles during the tournament, stating: "I couldn't, my legs were no longer able to continue. This time I tried to challenge my physical condition, but I couldn't. I never felt like I was okay."

Messi admitted that his father's departure left him with many questions about his future, saying: "I don't know what I will do without you and I don't know how I will continue. I was just playing football and now I have many doubts about whether I will continue doing it for much longer."

He added: "You were with me from the start, and there’s very little left until the end. Why couldn’t you endure that little extra so we could finish this journey together?".

Messi described his father as more than just a dad, stating: "You were my father, my friend, and my agent. You were always the person I needed at every moment, and you never got it wrong. Aside from some disagreements or arguments, you were always right. In the end, things always happened as you said."

Messi concluded his message with touching words, affirming that his father will always be present in his life and the lives of his children. He said: "I will miss you a lot, but you will always be here, especially in raising my children, because I teach and raise them the same way you raised me."
