Zubimendi Back on Real Madrid's Radar

Martin Zubimendi, Arsenal's midfielder, has returned to Real Madrid's considerations after the Brazilian Bruno Guimarães' transfer to the English club opened up the possibility of the Spanish midfielder's departure in the near future.

Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that Real Madrid had previously inquired about the possibility of signing Zubimendi last summer, when he was still a player for Real Sociedad, but they acted too late as the player had already finalized his transfer to Arsenal.

Martin Zubimendi joined Arsenal last season for around €70 million, signing a five-year contract. He started the season as a key player, but a minor knee injury affected his performance, leading to a gradual decline in his role and limited minutes with the team.

Real Madrid has closed the door on signing a new midfielder after Rodri rejected a move to the royal club in favor of joining Barcelona, considering that Bernardo Silva is capable of fulfilling this role in certain matches.

However, Guimarães' transfer to Arsenal has brought Zubimendi back into Real Madrid's sights, despite the difficulty of the deal, as the English club is demanding at least €90 million to part with the player. Additionally, the Spanish giants face strong competition from Chelsea.

Complicating matters further, Xabi Alonso wanted to bring Zubimendi to Real Madrid a year ago, while the Spanish coach is currently backing the idea of signing him for Chelsea.
