Arsenal Close to Securing Bruno Guimarães Deal from Newcastle

Arsenal is nearing a final agreement with Newcastle United to sign Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães, in a deal that could represent one of the London club's standout signings of the current summer transfer window.

According to journalist David Ornstein from The Athletic, all parties are keen to conclude negotiations, and the deal is currently moving towards completion. Gimaraes is awaiting permission from Newcastle to undergo a medical and finalize his move to North London.

Bruno Guimarães has previously informed Newcastle's management of his desire to leave and join Arsenal, while the London club was initially prepared to pay up to £60 million (around €70 million) to secure his signature.

Newcastle had previously rejected a verbal offer from Arsenal worth less than £60 million, as the club remained firm in its refusal to sell the Brazilian midfielder. However, the situation has changed in recent days, with a mutual desire among all parties to reach a final agreement.

Bruno Guimarães is 28 years old and has two years remaining on his contract with Newcastle. The player joined the English club from French side Lyon in January 2022 for a deal worth around €50 million including add-ons.

During his time at Newcastle, Guimarães played 153 matches in the Premier League, scoring 30 goals and providing 26 assists. He was also a key player in the team that won the EFL Cup in 2025.

Last season, the player participated in 41 matches across all competitions, scoring 9 goals and providing 8 assists. He then started all five matches for Brazil in the 2026 World Cup, where he created 4 goals.
