Diriyah Strengthens Midfield with Idrissa Gueye on Free Transfer
Al Diriyah has successfully reached an agreement with veteran Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye to join the team on a free transfer, following the end of his contract with Everton. This marks one of the club's most significant signings in the current summer transfer window.
Reports indicate that the player will sign a one-year contract with an option to extend for an additional season, with the deal expected to be officially announced after completing the final procedures.
The signing of Ghana Gaye is part of Al-Dhariyah's strategy to bolster the team with players who have significant experience in European football. The Senegalese international is regarded as one of the top defensive midfielders in recent years, having had successful stints with Lille, Aston Villa, Everton, and Paris Saint-Germain, before returning to Everton in 2022.
Throughout his career, Ghana Gay has participated in over 450 club matches and is considered a cornerstone of the Senegal national team. He contributed to winning the Africa Cup of Nations title in 2021 and has participated in several World Cup editions, providing Al-Dhariya with significant technical and leadership qualities on the pitch.
An official announcement regarding the transfer is expected in the coming days, following the completion of final procedures. Diriyah continues to strengthen its squad in preparation for the new season, as part of the club's ambitious project to compete strongly and achieve its goals in the upcoming phase.
