Arsenal Targets Stones and Konsa as Saliba Replacement
Arsenal has begun its search for a new defender during the summer transfer window, following William Saliba's back injury, which will keep him sidelined for an extended period.
Sky Sports has reported that John Stones and Ezri Konsa are leading the list of candidates to replace Saliba, with Stones available on a free transfer following the end of his contract with Manchester City.
The source added that Mikel Arteta knows Stones well from their time together at Manchester City, and he has previously praised his abilities, considering him one of the defenders with the qualities he prefers.
Arsenal is struggling to secure a deal for Ezri Konsa due to a large financial valuation gap with Aston Villa, who value their player at around £60 million.
The report indicated that Arsenal has permanently signed Piero Hincapié, but they still see the need to sign a new center-back to compensate for the long absence of Saliba ahead of the new season.
