Thunderstorm Cancels Spain's Final World Cup Training

Spain's national team was forced to cancel their final training session ahead of the 2026 World Cup final, as a thunderstorm prevented the scheduled practice in New Jersey just hours before the anticipated match.

Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that the training session, scheduled for 12 PM local time in Egypt, did not commence due to the implementation of safety protocols established in the United States, which mandate the suspension of all outdoor activities when there is a risk of lightning.

Members of the Spanish national team waited for 45 minutes for the weather to improve, but the continued bad conditions led officials to officially cancel the training session.

The Spanish Football Federation confirmed in an official statement the suspension of training at the Melani Lin training center in New Jersey, in compliance with the thunderstorm safety protocol. The players participated in a recovery session inside the indoor facilities instead of training on the pitch.

The coaching staff had planned to utilize the last training session to finalize preparations before the final match, but weather conditions forced a change in the program, limiting the preparation to gym workouts.
