Barcelona Delays Announcement of Adeyemi Deal Due to World Cup Final
Barcelona has decided to postpone the official announcement regarding the signing of German winger Karim Adeyemi until the return of club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco from the United States, despite the agreement with Borussia Dortmund being finalized and the player successfully passing his medical tests.
Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" has reported that the agreement between Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund remains in place, with the deal valued at a fixed €22 million, plus €7 million in variables, along with Borussia Dortmund receiving 30% of any future sale profits for the player.
The newspaper added that Adiemi completed his medical tests last Thursday at the Barcelona hospital, and the announcement of the deal was expected before the weekend. However, the club preferred to delay the official announcement and presentation until the return of Laporta and Deco, who will attend the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina before returning to Barcelona on Tuesday.
According to the report, Adeyemi is expected to become Barcelona's second signing for the 2026/2027 season after Anthony Gordon, with indications that the official announcement and player presentation will take place on Wednesday.
Currently, Adyemi continues his physical preparations by training in the gym of the hotel where he is staying, as he is not allowed to use Barcelona's facilities until the official announcement of the deal is made.
The report indicated that the player visited the Johan Cruyff Stadium on Friday, where he met with coach Hans Flick, who played a key role in signing him and was also the one to give him the chance to make his debut with the German national team. However, he did not participate in the team's training.
