Barcelona to Compete in Mini-Tournament
Barcelona has officially announced its participation in the inaugural Friuli Venezia Giulia Cup, which will take place on August 8 at the BluEnergy Stadium in Udine, Italy.
The tournament will feature three clubs: Barcelona, Udinese, and Nottingham Forest. Three consecutive matches will be played, each lasting only 45 minutes, as part of an intensive preparation program ahead of the new season.
The day begins with Udinese taking on Nottingham Forest, followed by Barcelona meeting Nottingham Forest, before the tournament concludes with Udinese against Barcelona.
According to the tournament system, any match that ends in a draw after 45 minutes will go directly to penalties to determine the winner.
In football, the winner in regular time receives 3 points, while the winner in a penalty shootout gets 2 points. The losing team in a penalty shootout earns 1 point, whereas the team that loses in regular time does not receive any points.
The team that accumulates the most points at the end of the three matches will be crowned the champion of the first edition of the tournament, as clubs prepare for the upcoming football season.
