FIFA has officially announced the appointment of Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić to officiate the final match of the 2026 World Cup between Spain and Argentina.

The final match is scheduled for Sunday, July 19, at the New York New Jersey Stadium, where Spain will face Argentina in a highly anticipated clash to determine the world champion.

Vincic will be assisted by Slovenian Tomaž Klančnik as the first assistant referee, and Andraž Kovasič as the second assistant referee, while Jordanian Adham Mkhadmeh has been appointed as the fourth official, and his compatriot Mohammed Al-Khalaf as the reserve assistant referee.

Bastian Dankert, the German referee, will officiate as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Vinčić is considered one of the top referees in Europe in recent years, having officiated many major matches at both continental and international levels, which led FIFA to honor him with the responsibility of leading the most important match in the tournament.

The Spanish national team qualified for the final after defeating France 2-0, while the Argentine team reached the final at the expense of England with a score of 2-1.
