French newspaper L'Équipe has revealed details of a crucial meeting held by France's head coach, Didier Deschamps, with his players following the disappointment at Euro 2024, marking a turning point towards changing the attacking approach of the "Les Bleus".

According to the paper, on September 8, 2024, the eve of their UEFA Nations League clash against Belgium, Deschamps gathered his players in the locker room and asked the rest of the delegation to leave, holding the meeting behind closed doors in a candid and direct atmosphere.

During the session, team leaders spoke up, with Kylian Mbappé being one of the most prominent voices, expressing a shared feeling among several players that the team appeared lost during their semi-final match against Spain at Euro 2024, lacking solutions on the ball and an alternative plan when the initial attacking idea was thwarted.

L'Équipe noted that Deschamps listened to his players more than he spoke, allowing everyone to express themselves freely, which reinforced the coaching staff's conviction that it was time for significant changes to the team's attacking style, a tactical revolution that later contributed to shifting the balance of power against Spain.
