Nico Williams: Many thought I didn't celebrate the winning goal, but it wasn't up to me
Nico Williams, the Spanish national team player, confirmed his full readiness after recovering from the injury that kept him out of recent matches, stating that his participation against Belgium was an opportunity to prove his ability to play his position with La Roja.
After Spain's 2-1 victory over Belgium in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, Williams said: "I feel very good. After the injury I suffered, we tried to shorten the absence, and today's match was to prove that I can play in this position."
The Spanish winger commented on the celebration of his teammate Mikel Merino after the winning goal, explaining: "Many people thought I didn't celebrate Mikel's goal, but we are very happy for him. It looked like I was serious, but I was celebrating with Lamine."
Regarding the upcoming clash against France in the semi-finals, he said: "It will clearly be a very tough match, but we have faced them several times and come out victorious. I hope the result will be in our favor this time as well. We have great enthusiasm."
On the possibility of playing the full next match, Williams clarified: "I am ready for that, but the decision is not up to me. The most important thing is to help the team in any way possible."
