Fouzi Lekjaa: I Don't Know Any Spanish Player Named Jamal
Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, confirmed that the Moroccan federation respects Lamine Jamal's decision to represent the Spanish national team, stressing that this does not change anything in his relationship with Morocco or his family.
Lekjaa stated, "Jamal, Lamine Jamal. I don't know any Spaniard named Jamal. I don't know a player in the history of the Spanish national team named Jamal."
He added, "Unlike many voices, there is noise from the other side, but there is no problem. Our history and culture make us proud, and we are even prouder when the Moroccan nation contributes to the success of a friendly, brotherly, and neighboring national team like Spain."
He continued, "We respected Jamal's choice and never objected to it. We did not change our behavior towards him or his family, who, to my knowledge, often come to spend holidays in the northern regions, their original home, and they will always be welcome."
Lekjaa concluded his remarks by saying, "Others make their choices, and we are content that the Moroccan project choice becomes the norm. We have never placed frustration or pride on the scales when selecting players. For us, this is football, and this is its universality; playing for a national team based on a choice does not change anything in the ties with the country."
