Deco to Scout Barcelona Stars at World Cup
Deco, the sporting director of Barcelona, has arrived in the United States to closely watch several matches of the 2026 World Cup, as many players from the Catalan club are participating in the tournament, alongside names that interest the club.
According to Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Deco has planned to attend several matches during the tournament, especially those featuring Barcelona players with their national teams, as well as players linked to the club, such as Joao Cancelo, whose loan ended on June 30, and Julian Alvarez.
The same source added that the sporting director is particularly focused on the Spanish national team, which includes eight players from Barcelona, as well as Brazil, led by Raphinha, France with Jules Koundé, and England featuring Anthony Gordon, the latest signing for Barcelona.
Deco is also particularly interested in the Portugal vs. Spain match in the Round of 16, as he is a historic figure in the Portuguese national team, providing him with extra motivation to watch this match from the stands.
The report noted that Deco's visit will not be limited to watching matches; he will also take the opportunity to meet several figures in football and greet coaches and players, while this visit does not include scouting for new talents, as the scouting department completed this task last season.
