Bournemouth Secures Alvaro Rodriguez Deal, Real Madrid Rakes in Millions
Uruguayan forward Alvaro Rodriguez is on the verge of moving to the Premier League after Elche reached an agreement with Bournemouth for his sale during the current summer transfer window.
According to Spanish media reports, the deal is valued at around €25 million, plus €5 million in variables, with Real Madrid set to receive €12.5 million, as they hold 50% of the player's economic rights.
The reports further indicate that Real Madrid will not retain any future rights to the player, as the agreement will not include any buy-back clause or right of first refusal, marking the end of the royal club's relationship with the Uruguayan forward.
The 24-year-old Alvaro Rodriguez had stints with Real Madrid and Getafe before moving to Elche, where he had an impressive season under coach Eider Sarabia, being one of the key reasons the team remained in La Liga.
Rodriguez participated in 34 matches in La Liga last season, scoring seven goals and providing five assists, before nearing a new experience with Bournemouth, who will compete in the Europa League next season.
