Ivan Perišić, the Croatian national team winger and PSV Eindhoven player, set a new record in the 2026 World Cup during his participation in his country's 2-1 victory over Ghana in the third round of the group stage.

The "Opta" statistics network reported that Perisic played his twentieth match for the Croatian national team in the history of his participation in the World Cup, all of which he started in the main lineup.

The network added that Perisic has become the fourth player in the history of the tournament to start 20 or more matches with a 100% rate, behind Paolo Maldini who participated in 23 matches, and Maradona and Uwe Seeler, each of whom started 21 matches.

The Croatian national team concluded the group stage with a valuable 2-1 victory over Ghana, having started their campaign with a 4-2 loss to England, before defeating Panama 1-0 in the second round.
