De la Fuente: We Are Where We Wanted, and Uruguay Exaggerated
The coach of the Spanish national team, Luis de la Fuente, appeared in a press statement following the 1-0 victory over the Uruguayan team in the third round of the group stage of the World Cup.
The coach said, "It was a very tough and intense match, at the highest level. The opponent might have overexerted in terms of physical strength and contact, but there are referees responsible for handling that. We also had to know how to play this type of match, and the players adapted well to the conditions of the game."
He added about the refereeing: "We are not asking anyone to give us anything, but we also do not want anything to be taken away from us. We live away from refereeing controversies and everything we cannot control."
Regarding Yeremi Pino's injury: "Unfortunately, the injury might be to the shoulder or collarbone. He will undergo tests tomorrow to determine the severity of the injury. He is in a lot of pain, and the effort he put in was tremendous, what he delivered is truly a heroic performance."
He concluded about qualifying at the top: "We are where we wanted to be. Our status requires us to achieve that, and we wish to continue developing. We are on the right path, gaining more rhythm with each match. Today, we are very happy."
