Uruguay Bids Farewell to the World Cup with Loss to Spain

The Spanish national team achieved a valuable victory over its Uruguayan counterpart with a score of 1-0, in the match that took place early Saturday at Akron Stadium, as part of the third and final round of the group stage in the 2026 World Cup.

The only goal of the match came in the 42nd minute, after Marcos Llorente sent a precise pass to Alex Baena, who placed the ball in the net, giving the 'La Roja' team the lead before the end of the first half.

In the second half, the Uruguayan team tried to come back in the score and intensified its attacks during the final minutes, but the Spanish defense managed to maintain its lead until the final whistle, ending the match with Spain winning 1-0.

With this victory, the Spanish team raised its tally to 7 points, securing the top spot in the group and advancing to the round of 32 as the leader, while Uruguay's tally froze at two points, exiting the tournament from the group stage.
