Rice: We Were Unlucky, No Reason for Pessimism
The English national team star Declan Rice appeared in a press statement, following the 0-0 draw against the Ghanaian team in the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
The player said in his statement: "It's always difficult when you face a team that defends with 11 players behind the ball and very deep as they did, but you have to find solutions. In the last ten minutes, we were unlucky not to score."
He added: "We still have a great chance to top the group in the match against Panama, so there are many positives. They were very organized, defended with a 5-4-1 formation without the ball, with very tight spaces to play through, but on the other hand, we can offer more with the ball."
He emphasized: "We must give Ghana the credit they deserve. The match was tough, and they have good players, so it wasn't expected to be an easy encounter."
He concluded: "We still have another match in the group stage to decide the top spot, so we have to stay positive. Many big teams draw in group stage matches, so there's no reason for pessimism or frustration. We will continue to remain positive."
