Al-Hamdan: No Time for Excuses.. We Need Support to Secure Qualification

Abdullah Al-Hamdan, the Saudi national team striker, expressed his sadness following the loss to Spain, emphasizing that the focus has now shifted to the match against Cape Verde.

"The Green Falcons" suffered a heavy defeat with a score of 4-0 against the Spanish national team in the second round of Group H matches in the 2026 World Cup.

Al-Hamdan said in statements after the meeting: "I can talk about the coach having just arrived and that we are playing with a new style, but this is not the time for excuses. We need to focus on the next match."

The Saudi national team striker confirmed that the players bear responsibility for the result of the match against Spain.

He added, "We feel the sadness of the fans, and we are even more saddened than they are. We wanted to deliver a better performance during the match."

Al-Hamdan explained that the team will take advantage of the upcoming period to prepare for the decisive match against Cape Verde.

He said: "We have four days to prepare, and the upcoming match is very important because the opportunity is still available to us."

The player emphasized that winning the last match will be the key to advancing to the next round.

He added: "If we don't win the last match, we don't deserve to qualify, and we must fight until the end."

Al-Hamdan sent a message to the Saudi fans, urging them to continue their support and backing in the upcoming phase.
