Saudi Arabia Suffers Heavy Loss Against Spain in the World Cup

The Saudi national team suffered a harsh and disappointing defeat against its Spanish counterpart with a score of (4-0) in the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, in the match held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Spanish team took an early lead through Lamine Yamal in the 11th minute after a cross from Oyarzabal on the left flank that went past everyone, which Yamal then followed up with a skillful shot into the net.

Mikel Oyarzabal returned to assert "La Roja's" dominance by scoring two consecutive goals in the 21st and 24th minutes, amid clear Spanish control over the course of the match, ending the first half with a sweeping lead for the Spaniards.

In the 49th minute, the fourth goal for the Spanish team came after a ball inside the penalty area reached Marc Cucurella, who shot it. The goalkeeper saved it, but it rebounded and hit Hassan Tambakti, settling in the net as an own goal.

With this victory, the Spanish team increased its tally to 4 points at the top of the group, while the Saudi team's tally remained at one point, temporarily placing them in third position.

The Uruguay national team holds the second place with one point as well, and is set to face the Cape Verde national team, which also has one point, in an anticipated match later today to determine the competition's standings in the group.
