Venomous Snake Disrupts Germany National Team Camp
The German national team camp in the United States witnessed an unexpected incident during the 2025 World Cup competitions, after the appearance of a venomous snake caused concern within the team's residence in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The German newspaper 'Bild' highlighted the incident through statements made by Joshua Kimmich, Bayern Munich midfielder and one of the key players of the German national team, confirming that the technical and administrative staff took precautionary measures to protect the players and delegation members.
Kimmich explained the details of the situation, saying: 'We saw the snake yesterday, and we were informed it is venomous. If bitten, you must go to the hospital immediately. I don't think it's deadly, but it's very dangerous.'
He added: 'In Germany, I always thought we didn't have that many dangerous animals.'
The appearance of the snake led to tightened safety measures within the camp, where players received instructions to be cautious and avoid certain areas around the residence, amid fears of the reptile being near the facilities used by the team.
The German newspaper reported that the protocol in such cases stipulates rapid medical intervention and providing the appropriate serum in case of any bite, which prompted officials to raise the alert level in recent days.
This strange incident comes as the German national team continues its preparations for its matches in the World Cup, after starting its campaign in the tournament with a victory over the Curaçao national team, finding itself facing a different challenge away from the competition on the field.
