The coach of the German national team, Julian Nagelsmann, appeared in a press statement following the 7-1 victory over the Curaçao team in the first round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

The coach said in his speech: "We needed a few minutes to regain our balance after the equalizing goal. Curaçao also knows how to play football, as we have seen, and I am eager to see how they will perform in the rest of the group matches."

He added, "I am very satisfied with us scoring seven goals and with our performance during most parts of the match. Winning the first game is always important, and we are happy that we succeeded in that."

He stated: "Under these circumstances, it is difficult not only to regain psychological balance but also to score seven goals and win the match. There were many positive elements in the game, but we also saw points that can be analyzed in detail and could help us develop further."

He continued: "Leroy Sane put in a great effort and worked hard on defensive transitions, thwarting many of the opponent's counter-attacks. Therefore, he deserves praise today."

Regarding Musiala's substitution: "I didn't substitute him due to injury; I also wanted to reward other players like Deniz Undav."
