The historic draw achieved by the Cape Verde national team against Spain was not the only thing that made the veteran goalkeeper Vozinha cry after the final whistle.

The 40-year-old man, who stood as a formidable barrier against the Spanish attacks and led his national team to a historic milestone in their first World Cup appearance, revealed that his tears were not only due to the achievement but also because of people he wished could share that moment with him.

Fuzinia said after receiving the Man of the Match award: "I cried after the game because I was raised by my grandparents when I was a child, but they weren't here. They passed away a few years ago."

The goalkeeper, who has become a national hero in Cape Verde, added: "Even my mother couldn't attend due to issues related to obtaining a visa and the required costs, and we didn't manage to resolve it in time."
