Claude Le Roy Returns to Lead Congo

The Congolese Football Federation announced the appointment of veteran French coach Claude Le Roy as the head coach of the Congo national team, marking a return for one of the most closely associated coaches with African football over the past decades.

Leroy is considered one of the most prominent coaching figures in the African continent, having led several African national teams during his long career, including Cameroon, Senegal, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Togo, and Congo. He has also contributed to the development of many talents and left a clear mark in more than one international experience.

The French coach had previously won the Africa Cup of Nations with the Cameroon national team in 1988, and he also led several teams to continental finals and the World Cup, making him one of the most experienced and knowledgeable coaches in African football.

Congo hopes to benefit from Leroy's extensive experience to lead the national team towards regaining its continental presence and competing for qualification in upcoming events, in a new chapter added to the illustrious career of the 78-year-old coach.
