Five Barcelona Players Prepare for Their First World Cup Appearance
Barcelona will be strongly represented at the 2026 World Cup which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with 16 of its players participating in the tournament, making it one of the most represented clubs in the global event.
The Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' reported that five Barcelona players will experience their first World Cup, namely: Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Juan Garcia, Anthony Gordon, and Hamza Abdel Karim, following their impressive performances with their clubs and national teams recently.
The newspaper added that the Spanish national team will rely heavily on Barcelona players, as coach Luis de la Fuente has called up eight players from the team, including: Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Cubarsi, Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres, Juan Garcia, Eric Garcia, and Gavi, among whom are three players who will make their first World Cup appearance.
Lamine Yamal enters the tournament after an outstanding season with Barcelona despite his left hamstring injury, while Pau Cubarsi continues to secure his position in the team's defense despite his young age. In contrast, Juan Garcia enters the tournament after a remarkable season in which he was the most participating player and was awarded the Zamora Trophy after conceding 21 goals in 30 matches.
Anthony Gordon, on the other hand, will participate for the first time in the World Cup with the England national team, while Hamza Abdel Karim completes the list as the youngest Egyptian player to participate in World Cup history, following his inclusion in the Egyptian national team squad.
