Juventus Opens Door for Swap Deal with Atletico Madrid

Tuesday 02-06-2026
Italian press reports have indicated that Juventus has proposed the idea of signing Koke, the captain of Atletico Madrid, during recent talks with the Spanish club, as part of negotiations related to the return of Nicolas Gonzalez to the Italian team, with the possibility of including him in a swap deal.

The data suggests that Juventus' plans in the summer transfer market were affected after the team failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League in the final stages of the 2025/2026 season in the Italian league, prompting the management to rearrange its priorities, relying on the principle of selling some players before making new signings.

Nicolas Gonzalez returns to Juventus after the end of his loan period to Atletico Madrid during the 2025/2026 season, as the mandatory purchase clause of 32 million euros was not activated due to his insufficient participation in league matches, despite the Spanish club's desire to keep him without paying the agreed amount.

According to the Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport," Koke's name was brought up during the talks between Juventus and Atletico Madrid while discussing Nicolas Gonzalez's file, in light of the Italian club's desire to strengthen the midfield with experienced players.

Koke, 34 years old, is considered a leading figure within Atletico Madrid, and Juventus sees him as a player capable of supporting the midfield alongside Manuel Locatelli and Thuram, with the possibility of allowing Teun Koopmeiners to leave during the summer transfer window.

The same report also indicated that Juventus is also considering signing other players, namely Kim Min-jae, a Bayern Munich defender, and Randal Kolo Muani, a Paris Saint-Germain forward.
