Arsenal continues to hold one of the harshest records in the history of European football, as the team has the most matches in the history of the European Cup of Champions Clubs under its old name and the UEFA Champions League under its new name without managing to win the title even once.

According to recent statistics, Arsenal played 225 matches in the continent's most important tournament before the 2026 final, which is the highest number for any club that has never lifted the trophy with the ears.

Following Arsenal are Atletico Madrid of Spain and Dynamo Kyiv of Ukraine among the clubs with the most participation without achieving the title, but the "Gunners" top this list by a clear margin.

Arsenal's best chance to achieve the European dream was in the 2006 final against Barcelona, before losing the match 2-1, then returning to the final again in the 2026 edition without being able to break the European curse.
