Manchester City Surpasses United in the Race to Sign Elliot Anderson

Manchester City is leading the race to sign English midfielder Elliot Anderson, the Nottingham Forest star, ahead of rivals Manchester United, after the player expressed his preference to move to the Etihad Stadium during the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to the BBC, Manchester United's management does not wish to engage in lengthy negotiations or pay large sums of money to complete the deal, while a disagreement remains between Manchester City and Nottingham Forest over the value of the 23-year-old player.

The forecasts indicate that the deal could become a record for a British player, surpassing Declan Rice's transfer to Arsenal for £105 million in 2023.

Nottingham Forest coach Vitor Pereira confirmed after the draw with Bournemouth that he hopes to keep his best players, noting that Anderson and his teammate Morgan Gibbs-White deserve to reach the highest levels in football. He also explained that the club seeks stability and aims not to sell its stars continuously to maintain competitiveness.

Anderson joined Nottingham Forest from Newcastle United in the summer of 2024 for £35 million. Since then, he has participated in 92 matches, scoring six goals, and contributed to England's Under-21 team winning the European Championship last year.
