Hausen Hints at Discontent After Being Excluded from Spain's National Team List

Dan Hausen sparked controversy after being left out of Spain's squad for the 2026 World Cup. He sent an indirect message on social media following coach Luis de la Fuente's decision to exclude him from the final list.

The Spanish national team list saw the absence of Real Madrid's defender, while De la Fuente preferred to rely on Pau Cubarsi, Aymeric Laporte, Marc Pubill, and Eric Garcia in the center-back position.

The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that Housen re-shared an image on his official accounts that had been posted by his father. It included statistics from "Sofascore," a site specializing in player data analysis, showing his superior rating compared to some defenders who were called up to the national team.

Hausen received a rating of 7.28 during the current season in La Liga, compared to 7.19 for Pau Cubarsi and 7.11 for Eric Garcia, which was interpreted as an indirect expression of his dissatisfaction with the exclusion decision.

The newspaper added that the Real Madrid defender was a regular feature in the national team rosters in past periods. However, his individual performance decline this season, along with the negative results experienced by the royal team, played a significant role in his exclusion from the coaching staff's plans before the World Cup.
